As a Software Engineer for the Gilte Groupe you’ll build out our next set of groundbreaking features focused on a beautiful customer experience. We’re looking for software engineers who can develop software across all levels of the stack – from database design to user interface to scalable deployment. Gilt Groupe is truly at the cutting edge of digital retail and you’ll have the opportunity to explore new ways to leverage social networks for eCommerce. We get new sales data every day and that results in a huge spoke in traffic every day at noon when we announce an exclusive offering to our members with a limited time for them to log on and purchase. Some sales will sell out in about two hours. Our members access us from a variety of browsers and now, with introduction of the iPhone, you’ll also help us to extend the reach of online sales beyond the web to mobile devices and the desktop.

Developers that will thrive with us will:
* Be passionate in solving complex problems using simple creative solutions. You appreciate well-written code that is simple and easy to maintain. * Know or be interested in Ruby on Rails. You can learn this once you join, but you must have solid experience with several other web frameworks. * Have extensive database experience (from design to scalability). We’re using Postgresql – but more importantly believe strongly in absolute data consistency for data that matters. * Thrive in a very fast moving environment, with lots of freedom in the technologies and applications you develop. * Quick learner with a “just do it” approach. * We’re building software to support a new concept in the sales of luxury items. We think it’s a great idea – somebody else has proven the business model and it’s a large opportunity for us. Fashion experience is a bonus, but hey…Location – New York City – Chelsea
