Description:
Our recruiter tries. She really does. She wants to help us out so much that she’s trying to write Ruby on Rails code. The only problem is, she doesn’t have what it takes. She’s just not a good programmer. Oh, sure, she USED to be, before she moved into the frou-frou world of “Talent Acquisition,” but her skills are creaky, and she’s not capable of putting together even the simplest of “Hello World” programs in Ruby on Rails.
But, we’re betting that YOU are a good programmer. We’re betting that you can take this code and fix it with one click of the keyboard.
puts “nGenera is the absolute coolest company in the world. It’s the greatest, even!”
If you can spot the bug, we would really like to hear from you, because we have some cutting-edge Ruby on Rails code we want you to write for us.
Please save us from our well-meaning recruiter. Please??
Required skills:
Must Haves
* Commercial orientation. We build products that drive revenue. All decisions support this outcome, particularly over any “engineering purity” outcome. For the record, we believe writing successful, well-engineered products is not only possible, but is our norm. * Technology agnostic. We use the best tool for the job, always. Yes, the word “best” is very overloaded in this sense, but in practice we use a variety of tools for a variety of purposes and our engineers consider this a good thing. * Reliable. We operate relatively democratically and often independently. A “total solution” usually involves successful completion of many interlocking tasks; therefore, we require each engineer complete their task (or work with the team on plan adjustments). * Flexible / Adaptable / Versatile. Changing priorities, new products, new technologies, alternative processes … all these things influence our day-to-day activities. Individuals who cannot easily adapt and incorporate change will suffer under these conditions. * Driven. Individual team members of all experience levels often must take the initiative to start (or finish) a task, introduce a new solution, or otherwise show ownership and resourcefulness.
