ShangBy Inc. is a US venture backed early stage company founded in November, 2006 by Steve Bell. The Company is headquartered in Austin, TX, focused on the US market, with the bulk of its operations in Shanghai, China. As ShangBy expands into other cities across Asia, the Company plans to keep Shanghai as the operations center. Basically, think “YouTube” meets "QVC / eBay” (home shopping). ShangBy is creating a new shopping category and platform – where people come to be entertained and participate in the markets of the world. Specifically, the Company streams real time video to shoppers in the US. A single individual or group of US located customer(s) shop as if they are “live” in the store in Shanghai. The retailers and ShangBy hosts do the translation and buy on behalf of ShangBy’s US customer. Everyone else watching on TV or the Internet can “pile- on” and buy at the price set by the live shopper both during and after the live events. Required skills:

- Education
English – fluency – ability to talk on phone with colleagues in US
BS degree with major in Computer Science or related field

- Web 2.0 Technology
2+ years experience developing web-based applications.
Experience with Javascript, DHTML, CSS, AJAX, XML.
1+ years experience with Ruby on Rails.

- Other technical
Knowledgeable in MySQL and SQL query language.
REST architecture, Agile development, Subversion.
Linux, Apache, Mongrel.

Desired skills:

Ability to understand requirements and specifications.
Can take an idea from concept to finished code
Work well in team setting or independently
Self starter, eager to learn new technologies and bring fresh ideas to the table
Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
Professional attitude with good people skills
