I am the founder of a nonprofit that just received funding from the Knight Foundation to pioneer ‘community funded reporting.’

As a nonprofit I can’t promise equity, but I can promise the chance to work on something truly innovative that has potential to revolutionize the business model behind investigative journalism.

I have detailed specs of how the site will work. That said, I am open to feedback on the specs and design. More than anything I am looking for somebody that will help me make it reality and success.

This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who likes an agile/iterative development process working in a startup environment.

While I can’t pay as much as Yahoo – I do have a budget and can compensate for your time. In an ideal situation you will stay on the project for one year, but I’m willing to consider a contractor who can get the job done in 4-6 months.

Required skills:

Hard core Ruby on Rails.

Experience building and managing web projects from the ground up.

Desired skills:

Design and user interface.
